Twiggy, who was born in 1949 in North London, became a worldwide phenomenon when she landed in New York in 1967 as Lesley Hornby. During her years as a model, Twiggy posed for some of the top photographers, including Barry Lategan, Melvin Sokolsky, Richard Avendon and Bert Stern.
She was the most popular model of the 1960s and her jet set lifestyle led to the creation of the infamous Louis Vuitton Papilion bag. It's cylinder shape and easily portable size made it ideal for a model on the go and after Twiggy appeared in Vogue with the bag in 1967 the world went crazy for the Papilion- to this day it is still one of Louis Vuitton's most popular bags.

Twiggy added to her career with film, stage, television and even singing. She continues today with her own line of clothing and bed linens as well as modeling and guest appearances on television.
