Joset Walker my new Holy Grail for Vintage Swimwear

A classmate of Claire McCardell, Joset Walker graduated from Parsons in 1928. She was a leading proponent of ready-to-wear clothing, but was perhaps best known for her work in Saks Fifth Avenue's "Theatrical Department" and as a costume designer for RKO Studios and its stars, including Katherine Hepburn and Irene Dunne. By 1940 she was the designer for wholesale dress manufacturer David Goodstein.

Glamoursplash recently became aware of Joset's gorgeous swimwear ensembles through Jody of Couture Allure Vintage Fashion fabulous blog. Being a huge fan of Claire McCardell it's no wonder that I am now enamored with Joset's design capabilities and work. All pictures below include swimwear fashions from Joset Walker. If anyone can help me with my new holy grail I'd be ever indebted.

Models, Sabine and Janet Stevenson pose in "Hug Me Tights" by Joset Walker and "Pantung Loincloth Beach Wear" by Claire McCardell.

I just love how a beach shawl or cover-up can be worn in so many different ways. Tied around the bodice, draped over the shoulders or wrapped softly over the head.

We've just recently launched a new section on our Glamoursurf website to include beach cover- ups, wraps and sarongs. We'll be stocking it more with our vintage finds all this week. See you there!
