In the mid 1980s, after years of domination by the bikini, the swimming costume emerged from the locker as in indispensable cover up for beach and pool. Designers took to the archives and played homage to the swimming costume of the 1920s and 30s. The swimsuit plays with form, it is severely plain and black (or possible grey), it flirts with a skirt, it has thin straps, thick straps, no straps, one strap and can even have legs like a bike short. The little black swimsuit loves a crossover back and a high or small scooped front.
Another look popular in the 80s for the beach and sun were baggy bloomers and short cropped tops. We love both of these looks, so timeless even by today's standards.

I love the 1950's style swimming costumes. They have like a dress type look to them. Very elegant
