Hoping you all had a nice Halloween, we managed to give away all of the sweetness around here, which is good because I don't need to snack on any of it and if it's around, it happens to be a little bit of temptation. Keeping fit and trim is on my radar this time of year. Here are a few things that I do to keep myself from spending too much time sitting at the computer. Low cost, little things you can do for yourself.
-Take a walk, burn some calories while getting some exercise. The fresh air does wonders to clean out the cobwebs in your head. If you can't take a walk, at least get up from your chair every 15 minutes to a half hour and do some light stretching.
-Grab a piece of fruit or a carrot or celery stick to munch on instead of those M & M's or chips.
-Drink lots of water. I like to flavor mine with some fresh lemon juice. Very cleansing and hydrating.
-Make some herbal iced tea, flavored with some local honey. We like to place herbal tea bags in a large water filled jar with honey and set it in the sun to brew. After it brews, you'll have some delish tea. Add some ice and mint and voila. Easy peasy.
-Work in the garden, plant a new tree, some flowers or even a cactus!
-Write a letter, take out a pen and paper and actually write something, put it in an envelope and mail it.
-Go to the library.
-Volunteer in your community.
-Clean out a drawer, or a closet, or a shelf. Recycle what you don't need or haven't used in over a year.
-Take up a craft, learn something new. Challenge your routine, mix it up.
-Paint your finger and toenails, a little glamour goes a long way.
-Grab your camera and go outdoors.
-Take your bike on your next outing.
-Plan a picnic with a friend.
-Watch an old movie you haven't seen for a while, make some fresh popcorn.
What are some of the ways you take breaks in your day to keep up your motivation?
