1955 Catalina Swimwear
It's not too often that you come across something really fabulous that just makes you smile for days. This advertisement featuring Catalina swimwear did it for me.This ad came out in 1955 to show the stars in upcoming films, but there is some great info in that copy.
Left: Dorothy Lamour in Catalina's Cotton print swim ensemble Yo-Yo-San. Princess line suit with stay-front draped-center bra. Puckerette zip back and peg top tapered shorts. The matching Kabuki kimono style coat has a wrap front, Mandarin collar, tie belt and is lined with white terry cloth. Orange or Blue, about $14. for each piece.
Right: Terry Moore in a Lanton Taffeta suit trimmed in Mink: side shirring with a flange bra banded with Mink (especially treated for the water). Hyacinth with Sapphire Mink, black with white mink, or cinnamon with ranch mink. About $25.00. That's about $218. in today's value.
Mink & Swimsuits oh my, I wonder how they treated the mink to make it hold up?!?
